Low Maintenance vs. No Maintenance Gutters

Legacy's Low Maintenance Plan:

Gutters need to be free and clear of debris to ensure that they are free flowing to function properly.

We achieve that by cleaning out the gutters regularly or installing one of our high performance gutter systems.

I often refer to gutter guards as low maintenance vs. no maintenance.

The reason I say this is because in my 22 years of gutter installations, I have not found (because it does not yet exist) a guard system that is entirely maintenance free (no maintenance).

Rather, all gutter guard systems are "low maintenance" because they require some attention. If you adopt a set it and forget it mentality with them (and with any home system, for that matter) then it will come back to bite you at some point and you'll have a larger problem to deal with.

Like with any system, preventive maintenance will ensure that particular system will perform problem-free much longer than without preventive maintenance.

Every gutter guard system should be swept clear of excess debris several times a year with a heavy duty scrub brush (think of a hard bristle car wash brush rather than a small hand brush used to scrub away laundry stains).

I recommend an Amazon purchase of said brush on an extension pole (they can extend 30+ feet). The end of the pole has an articulating portion that will enable the brush to point downward to sit on top of the gutter guards so you can sweep them off. It's a low tech solution to prevent excess debris from creating recurring problems with the guards. This is an easy to implement maintenance plan you can do yourself.

Of course, we offer these services by request and we do this regularly for many of our clients.

The other portion of Legacy's Low-Maintenance Plan is to call us out once every 3-4 years to do a full system inspection and performance review. We will make sure the gutters and the guards are working and in top performance.

Let us know how we can help you with your maintenance plans for your gutter system.
